Apples
An apple a day keeps the doctor away is a well deserved accolade.
Apples do so much but are best known for helping your heart, lowering bad cholesterol, normalizing blood pressure and preventing digestive disorders.
Apples are rich in flavonoids, super antioxidants. In some respects better than drinking lots of tea. Significantly lower heart disease rates are attributed in some studies to high apple consumption.
The pectin in apples along with the flavonoids help block fat absorption and contribute to better cholesterol levels. Pectin also helps regulate healthy sugar levels for diabetics. Pectin is added to many popular digestive aid products. And apples are one of the few foods with the potent anti-cancer ellagic acid class of antioxidant.
