Chlorophyll (also chlorophyl)

Key Attributes: detox, cleanse, nutrients, anticancer, immune

Chlorophyll (also chlorophyl) is a green pigment found in almost all plants, algae, and cyanobacteria. It is particularly abundant in wheatgrass, chlorella, barley and alfalfa. Its name is derived from theGreek words chloros (“green”) and phyllon (“leaf”). Chlorophyll is an extremely important biomolecule, critical in photosynthesis, which allows plants to obtain energy from light. Chlorophyll absorbs light most strongly in the blue portion of the electromagnetic spectrum, followed by the red portion. However, it is a poor absorber of green and near-green portions of the spectrum; hence the green color of chlorophyll-containing tissues. Chlorophyll was first isolated by Joseph Bienaimé Caventou and Pierre Joseph Pelletier in 1817.

Medicinal Use:

Chlorophyll not only cleanses the blood of impurities, it builds up important nutrients. It promotes proper digestion and regular bowel movements, and it inhibits cell damage from radiation. It is helpful in the treatment of nearly all disorders a it strengthens the immune system.

Concentrated chlorophyll is widely available in health food stores. It is a good additive to your juicing and superfood routines. Watch this fun video by a young enthusiast you can learn from: 0 Chlorophyll (also chlorophyl)
