Eleuthero (Eleutherococcus senticosus)(Siberian Ginseng)
Published By OWC Research Staff on February 23, 2011
Key Health Actions: decrease blood pressure, immune system enhancement, physical stamina and mental clarity/alertness.
Excerpt:
Renowned for its ability to increase mental alertness, the immune system, and muscle performance, scientists believe Eleuthero helps prevent “adrenal burnout” caused by ongoing physical or mental stress. For this reason it is a natural resource to assist in the training of athletes. The mental alertness it offers is comparable in nature to caffeine, but without the crash that often accompanies caffeine.
Discussion:
Eleuthero contains eleutherosides and lipophilic triterpenoid saponins, and is considered to be adaptogenic and antichloresteremic.
Forms Available:
Powder, dried roots or stems, capsules, tablets and tinctures.
Caution is advised when taking blood pressure medications, as it may reduce the need for medication.
