EXERCISE and RENEWAL

Exercise

RENEWAL is an acronym which stands for Rest, Environment, Nutrition, Exercise, Water, Alternatives and Limits which are the principles needed to gaining Health & Wellness. These precepts keep you healthy and can reverse symptoms of illness. This article will concentrate on Exercise.

Exercise is movement. There are three types of exercise: Aerobic, anaerobic and stretching. Aerobic exercise is exercise that promotes endurance and needs great amounts of oxygen. Anaerobic also known as resistance or strength training is when the muscles are challenged with a task but do not need great amounts of oxygen. Stretching works on the flexibility of the muscles and joints, relaxes you and your muscles and prevents injury.

Exercise can help you: burn calories, increase strength and endurance, feel better (because of the endorphins released), give you more energy, ensure better sleep, optimize heart health, and live a longer, happier life. Maintaining an exercise program (as part of RENEWAL) can prevent and reverse heart health, diabetes, cancer, hearing loss incidence, brain fog, mental performance, osteoporosis, aches and pains.
Building muscle raises your Basal Metabolic Rate which means your body burns more calories naturally, even while sleeping. An exercise regimen which includes all three types of exercise is best for your health.

Pace Yourself

If you have been leading a sedentary life you will need to gradually increase your exercise intensity. There are real risks from starting an intense workout after living a sedentary life, you can even trigger a heart attack. You should check with your doctor before beginning a new exercise program to make sure there are no cautions.

Remember at the beginning you may experience pain and discomfort, your side may ache, your back give you pain, but this should not frighten you. Your limbs may feel weak, this is only temporary. Take your time, stay committed and soon you will see the benefits.

Walking: A Great Start

Walking, in all cases where it is possible, is the best exercise, because in walking, all the muscles are brought into action. There is no exercise that can take the place of walking. A short walk after a meal, with the head erect and the shoulders back, exercising moderately, is a great benefit. The mind is diverted from your problems to the beauties of nature. Exercise will strengthen organs that have become enfeebled. The circulation of the blood is greatly improved by the act of walking. Make sure to lift your feet 2-3 inches with each step to ensure good posture. Forget your troubles; think of something cheerful [while you walk].

To include more exercise in your life:
Make family time active time, by hiking, bike riding or going for a walk.
Exercise in the morning before breakfast to lose weight and maintain commitment.
Carry heavy groceries to the car, or even walking home from the store.
Walk for 10-30 minutes after each meal.
Find a workout video that challenges you and stick to a schedule.

Exercise is vital to keeping your body, mind and soul well. You deserve to experience wellness, I can help.
