Marijauna Extract CBD Deemed Safe with Increasing Evidence of Medical and Nutritional Benefits

CBD first rose to public prominence two years ago as a result of a CNN piece on medical marijuana. However CBD’s potential as a therapeutic agent has been known since at least the 1970s in the US, when its anti-seizure properties were first examined in animal studies. A few clinical trials were also conducted in adults with epilepsy, some showing positive results.

Why Big Pharma is Opposed to Medical Marijuana and Decriminalization of Pot

For decades pharmaceutical companies have been supporters of keeping cannabis illegal in the US, even preventing medical research with cannabis, while aggressively developing synthetic (fake) versions of compounds found and extracted naturally from cannabis. Many are known as cannabinoids, increasingly today referred to as CBDs. There is clear if not overwhelming evidence these compounds have significant benefits in treating a variety of diseases.

Weight loss with the reduction of abdominal fat mass almost invariably reverses insulin resistance as a consequence of chronic excessive energy intake in relation to physical activity levels. Weight loss, the macronutrient composition of the respective diet, aerobic exercise, and resistance training all appear to improve insulin resistance, by distinct mechanisms.

Using Psychology to Lose Weight Because Dieting and Exercise Alone Don’t Work

This paper takes the position that because of the continuing high rate of weight-loss failure with the current standard formula, Diet + Exercise = Weight Loss, a new formula for weight loss is needed. It argues that losing weight, especially for women, is never just about the food. It is always about a woman’s psychology as well. Adherence to a weight-loss regimen and personal change are psychological matters that must be addressed by using psychology to lose weight. Dieting and weight loss as they are currently practiced are not only insufficient, but they require too much self-control and willpower, which has made the weight-loss process terribly arduous and ripe for failure. So in addition to the primary goal of losing unwanted weight, there needs to be the equally important goal of using the least possible amount of self-control and willpower to effect change. With the goal of making the weight-loss process much less dependent on willpower and self-control, the paper then points out how to implement this goal. It takes traditional weight-loss issues and, using the principles and practices of psychology, illustrates how to successfully resolve these issues more automatically, and without the need for such self-defeating effort.

Dr. Andrew Weil: Depression – my experience

Depression has many forms. Worst among them is the kind characterized by deep, soul-crushing despair, so eloquently described in novelist William Styron's 1992 book, “Darkness Visible: A Memoir of Madness,” where he states "The pain of severe depression is quite unimaginable to those who have not suffered it. . . . the grey drizzle of horror induced by depression takes on the quality of physical pain."

Depression and Anxiety….What’s Really Going On

Many people make their way into their doctor’s office with complaints of fatigue, anxiety, or lack of energy, drive and focus. In many cases, attending physicians dispense anti-depressants, (some times like candy) such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) as a means to treat their symptoms of depression or anxiety. What these patients are actually experiencing is problems with the neurotransmitters in their brains, most notably Dopamine, Epinephrine, Norepinephrine, GABA and Glutamate. SSRI’s block neurotransmitter pathways and often result in a vast array of side effects

ADHD – Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

The most commonly diagnosed childhood disorder is Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). ADHD is a developmental disorder characterized by inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. Typical treatment involves drugs that increase dopamine and serotonin levels in the brain - two key nuerotransmitters that improve behavior. We believe most doctors are not fully aware of natural nutrients that target brain performance and nuerotransmitter balancing and production. These brain targeted nutrients should be considered before prescribing drugs when possible.
