Wheatgrass

Wheatgrass is considered by many one of nature’s land based superfoods. It provides chlorophyll, amino acids, minerals, vitamins, and enzymes. It derives from the cotyledons (the embryo within the seed of a plant) of the common wheat plant. It is often found in juice bars served alone in one ounce shots (they taste exactly like the smell of fresh cut grass) or mixed in with other fruit or vegetable drinks. Wheatgrass is often found in superfood concentrate supplements as are barley grass, oat grass, chlorella and spirulina. Many claim wheatgrass has unique curative properties originating from Wheatgrass proponent Schnabel who in the 1940s claimed that wheatgrass’s overall nutritional value to that of ordinary garden vegetables is a ratio of 1:23.
