Coleus Forskolin
The traditional use of coleus forskolin includes blood pressure lowering, respiratory disorders, glaucoma, hypothyroidism, fat loss and immune enhancement. The main action of forskolin is to activate an enzyme responsible for the convertion of ATP to cyclic AMP (cAMP). The breakdown of fat is largely governed by the amount of cAMP circulating in cells. Cyclic AMP will activate the release of fatty acids from fat cells. Also, forskolin may inhibit the synthesis of fat in fat cells. In addition, it can be used to treat hypothyroidism. Normally, your metabolic rate slows down due to the reduction of calories. With this herb, your thyroid (“metabolic control central”) is stimulated, thus an increase in energy output during low-calorie intake. Forskolin has been used clinically to treat asthma, allergies and psoriasis.
